An avid pedestrian in Chicago.
Sunday Sunday Sunday! We deserve safe streets, especially when the street in question has a terrific, grade separated bike lane just sitting there, finished and ready to roll for FIVE YEARS.

In 2017, Criselda Vasquez painted this portrait of her parents and titled it "The New American Gothic." Last month, her father, the man in this portrait, was abducted by ICE after being in the US for 30+ years. The family is now struggling with bills. A GoFundMe has been started:

āMan, 26, dies after bullets hit a group of pedestrian in Arnoldā That sounds stupid doesnāt it? Yet every time a driver uses a vehicle to kill people, this is the type of crap weāre served up by our media. They even name the driver who has been charged with murder in paragraph 4.

In response to all the parents that sit in their cars with the engines running for 20 minutes waiting for school pickup, I've decided to get a pack of cigarettes and stand in front of the school smoking. Then maybe we can have a serious conversation about air quality.

A pedestrian was hit by a driver at 31st and Halsted this morning in Bridgeport. Are those reports from police public? Id like to know how the crash happened. There are tons of curb cuts and a Carbucks drive thru at this intersection.

The ghost bike for Jacob Bass is no longer attached to a pole after construction in the street. The stoplight where he was killed by a driver has been replaced with a stop sign. Is there a process for fixing these to poles? 33rd & Emerald

It doesn't have to be very complicated or expensive - add a sign and a cheap gate - gate has gap for cyclists and pedestrians - gate can be opened by anyone in case of emergency or for maintenance access - raise a small section of street so the curb curves around, visually directing drivers to turn

Archer Avenue is not a release valve for the Stevenson Expressway. It's a surface street that threads through neighborhoods with businesses, schools, and homes. It's for people first.

2/ We found at least 79 children hurt by tear gas or pepper spray during Trumpās deportation blitz. Itās likely a vast underestimate. Kids were at home, sitting in strollers or attending a daytime protest with their parents. Then, chemicals left them gasping for air.

I hate it when this happens. Metra BNSF from Riverside to Halsted. They didn't have any ada cars open that would also be opening at Halsted so they told me to shoehorn myself into this non ADA vestibule. Very tight and I have to jockey constantly for other passengers getting on and off.

Does anyone know why the 29th street bike route no longer shows up on the Chicago bike map? The signs are still up. It runs east from Lyman and Loomis, along 29th to Princeton and then to 31st street.

I swear there used to be an option to request crosswalk repainting on the 311 app. I no longer see it. So I contacted the ward office about this intersection outside of an elementary school. And it got repainted two days later. Squeaky wheel and all that.
