I see SO many cargo bikes at school drop-off. The most impressive one I saw this morning had two late elementary-aged boys and all their stuff in the front bucket and a toddler in a seat on the rear rack.

Kansas City was one of the first US transit systems to go fare-free. Now the fares are coming back. The city & transit agency had a choice: Eliminate bus service or charge for trips. They chose the latter. (Low-income riders can still ride free.) Good move. Service quality > Free fares

I just managed to get two 5-year-olds back to Lincoln Park from summer camp in Lakeview on their bikes during rush hour. Holy crap, we have so much work to do on safer bike infrastructure in this city. They did amazing, but it was so stressful.

This thread got me thinking: How much money do cities spend on the effects of traffic crashes? Using classic "you have to spend money to save money" logic, would it actually save money to build safer infrastructure? Turns out, yes.

People often cite kids as a reason that biking for transportation won’t work. But my cargo ebike is an absolute game changer. It’s so hard to find time to exercise with a young kid! But I’m going to get 25 minutes of moderate exercise biking mine to a piano lesson today.
