Some vans and SUVs left and agents started shooting the pepper balls at the protesters who attempted to block it. They hit their own agent (shown in the photo) in the back a couple times.

Here at the Broadview ICE facility where not a huge amount is happening. The guys a top roof from time to time shoot pepper balls. A small group of protesters are hanging out in front of the vehicle gate, yelling jeers at the ICE agents here.

NOT ICE: multiple reports floating around social media today purport to show ice activity when they actually show local police. if an agent's vest says "sheriff" or a local police department, it's not ice. also pay attention to badges. illinois police use stars, while federal agents use shields.

Trump's base lives in the suburbs and exurbs and hates cities, but they also *need* cities, because cities have shopping, entertainment, and sports. And relying on cities without living in them means they need roads and parking even when actual city-dwellers want fewer cars on their streets.

Outside the Broadview ICE facility this afternoon. Not a ton of movement at the moment, but have seen a few masked agents coming and going. This black Jeep was spotted by rapid responders earlier today during an arrest in McKinley Park.

the federal surge in Chicago never ended

A protester who was detained for about five hours last night tells me they were slapped and called “f****t” (among other names) and were repeatedly slapped inside after being thrown to the ground/maced while being detained. They say an agent inside mentioned Broadview had deported a citizen.

The scene at Broadview today is calm, no sights of federal agents other than the occasional car going in the front gate. A UHaul truck was backed into the side garage earlier. About a dozen protesters are holding signs, dancing to Mexican music and yelling “shame” when agents enter/exit.

When ICE & CBP are doing this to protesters and press outside, amid two weeks of increasingly violent arrests, including one last week where they killed a local man, of course they are abusing their captives.

“Pelayo said her dad described being held in a room with at least 150 other men as ICE officers constantly yell at them and call them slurs. He also told his daughters detainees are only given food and water based on good behavior.” These are the conditions at the site of yesterday’s protest.

Holy shit man. DHS couldn’t care less that they killed a man. Instead of the loss of human life giving them pause, ICE agents have only gotten more aggressive and emboldened.
