We’re all STARVING for connection, community, and shared public spaces. I think a huge reason for NIMBYism is a lack of enough beautiful and functional public amenities including transit. The more public spaces we have, the better we get at sharing & the more we want to help and include each other.

Something I can’t stand about D5 politics is that there’s always tacit agreement that we “take on a disproportionate burden” of tiny houses or tent cities or whatever. I reject this framing entirely. Tent cities & tiny house villages are incredible assets to our community & make it a safer place.

I’ve been saying. We already know what makes a great city. Density on quiet streets and abutting green space, which forces u to walk through parks to get to transit and services. It’s easy. (But not if u have NIMBYs trying to hoard all the quiet streets and force growth onto highways)

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
