The notion that the US would bring "freedom" to Cuba is actually obscene. The US effectively controlled Cuba for half a century before the revolution, and ran it as a dictatorship characterised by gangsterism, political repression, sex tourism, racial hierarchy and mass poverty.

Allowing elites and corporations to fund political campaigns means they install political leaders who shape policy to their benefit. It is institutionalised political corruption, there's no other way to describe it. Democracy cannot function under these conditions.
