The responses to this show why technical arguments about transit planning that favor buses in dedicated lanes over rail often miss the point. The politics of keeping cars out of dedicated bus space over decades are extremely difficult!

Here’s my vision of how to do this (not just for Capitol Hill, but for all of urbanized central Seattle). This network uses the same number of service hours as today’s (with expected additions for RR expansion).

Now that there's 5 minute train service or better between Capitol Hill and downtown for most of the day, I really wish we were planning to tackle the Capitol Hill bus network. So much service still heading downtown that could help people get other places.

Coming back to these predictions in light of the Metro 2025 System Evaluation… and this one appears to have been dead-on. New 346 is one of the two least productive full-time routes in the Metro system. 348 nearly doubled ridership. 333 and 365 are doing basically OK.

Just got confirmation from Metro that the stops on Rainier will open on March 28. The new stops on 23rd will open the same day for routes 8 and 48.
