One of the flaws in our system for prosecuting "domestic" violence and abuse is that regardless of a perpetrator's actions, or the illegality of their known behavior, charges are dropped when a victim decides to stop cooperating, which is extremely common in coercive control situations.

Yay for bell to bell no cell! Also, I agree with @robertcruickshank.com that the 1:1 student laptops and tablets are also a serious problem. Targeted technology use can be good for students, learning by screen often not great and a portal to the internet while sitting in class is nuts.

I've spent a great deal of time consulting with experts and progressive watchdogs about AI - particularly how states can help protect consumers, children, workers, and the environment. Obviously there are things we cannot at the state level, but we can do a lot. I released my plan today!

AMAZING progress! The good news-cost of solar/batteries is dropping so fast we can have an energy future that is both fully clean and, abundant/cheap! The bad news-we're lousy about cutting coal/gas, data centers are gobbling up the clean gains, and we're not updating the grid fast enough.

Yes!!! Cities need more direct revenue (centrally funded, by taxing the rich), more discretionary options for raising additional revenue, and for those options to tax the rich in particular. It isn’t just rocket science. But it has been too much for the current establishment.

This November, and in November 2028, everyone is either voting for the Democrat or enabling fascism. Those are the only two choices. We really, truly are voting blue *no matter who.*

When big companies call for regulation, they are calling for the kind of regs that will protect their business--not jobs, the environment, or consumers. We most definitely need to regulate AI. But we shouldn't be taking cues from the companies that stand to profit trillions from the industry.

We should totally tax tokens. Tokens are currently way too cheap and should cost more. That would also incentive AI users to optimize their usage to get the maximum benefit from the minimum token usage. (Plus, the cost should reflect the externalities of data centers, which they don’t…at all)

Why don't we start with strict liability for harm to people, like when AI tells someone to kill themselves, or AI helps someone build a weapon? And then tax AI company profits, and tokens, to fund a jobs guarantee for young grads, expanded unemployment, and free retraining for impacted workers.

Transit is a winning issue in Seattle! Let’s keep it going!

Homes built close in, in Washington State, create far less capital costs for infrastructure, and generate more property tax revenue. Legalize more housing near all transit, schools and parks that are a reasonable commuting distance from job centers.
