i know a lot of people would hate this, but me personally on an individual level… i would *love* if an advanced sentiment analysis model was automatically running and subtly helping me understand if i’m communicating/writing in a way that aligns with my goals/values

The problem is that I think the signal isn't a reliable for blocking outright, but people will use it that way. It's just a useful signal that something warrants further investigation. For example, @dame.is has a dynamic pfp that changes based on the time of the day, so they get flagged.

they should use the social graph and their "social neighborhoods" to let you do threadgates based on degrees of seperation or "closeness" it would be neat if i could gate my threads to only allow people within my "neighborhood" to reply, this would allow for natural and controlled spread/growth

i think it’s important to remember that there are some human nature problems that just can’t be solved with a design solution

on the spectrum of giving users choice, i definitely err on the side of *more* user choice — you can see this by going into @anisota.net’s settings: anisota.net/settings that being said, you *have* to make choices for users… your client can’t be everything and it has to have opinions

just marveling at how Bluesky is trying to answer some things that @anisota.net already rocks at full threads are displayed and it obscures the engagement numbers so you're not tempted to go into the replies but sure, "dislike" is a solution i guess

i am in favor of experiments in social clients (obvs @anisota.net), but i personally don’t expect this implementation to be effective based on this description of it (there is a very real design problem around threads/replies tho, so i’m glad to see bluesky is testing/experimenting here!)
