Great points in this thread — we of course have every intention of sticking around, but even if Leaflet were to disappear tomorrow you'd still own all your publication data, other apps could display and publish it, and so on (Also true today; other apps are *already* e.g. rendering Leaflet posts!)

Important convo & debate in the replies ("zoomers don't use email" wow k strong assertion @jcsalterego.bsky.social) But yes, this is a top thing on our minds right now & we'd love your hottest takes re: the nuances of how email subs *should* work for atproto social publishing!

i'm so enamoured with @leaflet.pub. this is now my go-to browsing on public transport. love looking at the discover page and seeing what people are posting and leaving them comments! so pleasant to browse the discover feed and so nice to see a form of blogging that doesn't feel so lonely!

I had completely missed that leaflet.pub subscriptions worked by a custom feed 🤯 bsky.app/profile/leaf... Love stuff like that. I think a similar format would be awesome for things like tangled.sh, hackernews.com, and lobste.rs

I've spent nearly a year with Sill now. I think it's the antidote to doomscrolling. I took Leaflet for a spin to talk about how you can use Sill to make social media more sane.

I've recently gotten excited about using Leaflet.pub & have fallen down some delightful, old-school web holes via pages there like it's 1999. Back to the basics!

open source solutions that can be self-hosted are really the only viable long-term solutions for new and smaller creators the solutions i am most interested in are: @stream.place and @leaflet.pub both these applications are still in early growth, but are being built with creators in mind

i am so serious: if you are a new creator and are looking for long term options, please do not put youtube, instagram, or tiktok promotional materials in your roadmap i'm exclusively sending traffic through my website moving forward bc these "legacy" social media sites are not reliable any longer

UPDATE: Leaflet embeds are even better — we now autodetect a bunch more through the magic of iframely! YouTube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify…great for rich media players in particular, but we haven't tested everything, if any should work but don't, let us know & we'll take a look 👀 ⏯️ ✨

I've noticed several great ~linkblogs~ on @leaflet.pub lately — here's a lil thread! oh and btw for my linkblog friends & similar collection-makers etc. using Leaflet — we just added iframe embeds! for a bunch of these, particularly useful for nice YouTube video display…but plz test others too!

The @leaflet.pub team has enabled YouTube embeds in publications. To celebrate, we embedded @jay.bsky.team’s remarks at this year’s ATmosphereConf in Seattle. Login with your ATProto account and leave a comment!

New in Leaflet Publications: embed blocks! We *also* auto-embed YouTube vids by default when you paste the url and hit the embed button (instead of just adding link preview). For other sites, hit '/embed' to add from the block menu. YouTube's been a top request, but…others we should auto-embed?

Just pushed a fix for a bug where we weren't indexing leaflet quotes when they were published alongside a quoted bsky post! So now you can have more quotes with your quotes!
