A disappointing number of intelligent and otherwise philosophically sophisticated folks seem to fall into this trap of confusing semantic intelligence with consciousness.

One of my daughter's friends got in trouble at school because a teacher used an AI checker on something he wrote and falsely accused him of cheating. I get that people worry about AI writing, but the checkers don't work. At all. They're fake and you're being entirely foolish if you believe them.

After the hundred thousandth time reading a Sandra Boynton book out loud, I took to going all in on a Frank Muller narrates Stephen King audiobooks vibe of unvarnished dread. I got pretty good at it, and the kids loved it. ("But Not the Hippopotamus" worked particularly well for this.)

The answer to both is “white.”

I generally agree... I think that my generation (Gen X) helped start the thing where instead of "outgrowing" the stuff we loved as kids (or just accepting that it's now for the next generation of kids) we demanded that it stay relevant to us. This is the story of a lot of pop culture.
