Wicked part 2: Even after they made very good use of the added runtime in part 1, I remained skeptical of the split into two movies. They added fun & worthwhile stuff in part 2 as well, but the basic problems remain. Act 1 of the show is *so* much more packed w good songs and good characterization.

Liberals need a broad coalition and it will include people we don't agree with. I don't agree with neocons who cheer for bombing Iran. I don't agree with left libs sanguine about dramatically increased government control in markets. They don't agree with me. But these groups are sincerely liberal.

I see the same thing in this wishcasting for MTG to be really a liberal after all as I do in the hope that Hanania is part of our coalition because he opposes Trump. What I see is evidence that MTG and Hanania are accessible voters. We need those, too! But they're a different thing.

JVL's post leans heavily on MTG's sincere Christianity and beliefs. But many illiberal beliefs are sincere. Christian nationalism is sincere. As with Erika Kirk's forgiveness of Charlie's killer, this is not evidence that they have had a change of heart over illiberal aspirations.

This is the second paragraph of MTG's Wikipedia entry. All of this, and maybe most importantly her support for an attempted coup, needs to be recanted for evidence of liberalism. Not just her political tactics. Liberalism is not just using democratic tactics. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjori...
