Kinda burnt on the next.js/react router/remix sagas and spent the last week diving into @gleam.run and Lustre. It's pretty great. Also started working a library to make working with @graphql.org better in @gleam.run using .gql files to generate your decoders/serializers.

If @slices.network existed as merely a community API of indexed records of different AppViews would people use it? This was the idea around the social aspects of it anyways. I'm not after monthly subscriptions, I'm trying to build a community resource. Just need enough to keep the 💡 on.

How many lexicon validators will it take for you to finally write your AppView.

I honestly don't find writing lexicons in json to be that annoying. Just copy something similar, tweak for your app and run against a validator. Boom done. My only wish is a UI builder type of thing so I don't have to constantly look at a spec doc.

Also playing around with aggregation queries with graphQL and @slices.network and you can do stuff like this to show recent scrobbles. Turns out slices-teal-relay.bigmoves.deno.net is the perfect playground for testing stuff out. This is a lot of data and it loads instantly. @teal.fm @natalie.sh

Maybe we don't need view defs? I've been playing around with graphql for @slices.network and did a bunch of work to make this kinds of queries fast without N+1s.

@musicbrainz.org is awesome but it seems to be missing a lot of album art. Anyone know of different source to use as a fallback?

Going to try to tackle the self-hosted path for @slices.network soon. I know a lot of folks have been trying to fork but probably running into some issues. The idea is that your node could connect with the broader slices network so that it can resolve your records.

the backburner thing i can’t wait to get to is a websocket replay/fanout service with configurable indexes on whatever events are flowing though. gives you super quick filtered replay. you can make a whole superlight bluesky client on this, notifications included, no appview at all.

@danabra.mov inspired me to get GraphQL working with @slices.network aaaand it's pretty rad. Slices will generate query interfaces based on your Slices' lexicon and you can join on did/ref/uri. Here's a remix on Dan's teal demo using the entire @teal.fm dataset. slices-teal-relay.bigmoves.deno.net

i wrote down the process of resolving an at:// URI step by step. turns out, it's a great way to learn how the AT protocol works!

The app that takes these screenshots runs on @slices.network, and slices is hosted on @tangled.org, and @danabra.mov created a repo using slices, and this post is on Bluesky, and this is all on #atproto.

@danabra.mov figured out the issue with missing profiles! The problem is that the lexicon set isn't totally valid. app.bsky.actor.profile needs some of the com.atproto defs in order for profiles with those fields to validate. If you add those and then re-sync the missing profiles should show up.

i just made my first atproto app with the @slices.network alpha. it shows the list of last played tracks from @teal.fm across the atmosphere. i needed to write 25 lines of code for this to work.

Gonna try finishing @moji.blue using @slices.network as soon as I get an evening where I have a large quantity of time and caffeine FYI, I'm probably going to deprecate the v0 schema and remove the ability to upload b64 strings, I don't think it offers any perf boost and has a lot of downsides.

So the crazy thing about @slices.network is that it's also built on #atproto. Imagine heroku but all your application schemas (lexicons) and data are part of a social network, that's also used to create other social networks.

Still can’t login to @skylight.social with a custom pds 😭. Handle resolve is built into the atproto node oauth library as well as @graze.social’s AIP. I honestly think the best way to onboard users in #atproto is an input that’s take a handle or a pds url instead of having two flows.
