a little atproto bulk import hack: PDS instances have record operation rate-limits (for good reasons!) which can make bulk import of thousands of records all at one tricky. eg, "import your old insta posts".

from home, on my daily debian laptop, I can't browse most of costco.com or asics.com without getting Akamai (errors.edgesuite.net) Access Denied errors. not doing weird bulk dev requests these days, and works fine from apple laptops or android phones. I assume this is anti-bot stuff?

alright protocol devs, some wonky bits: we revisited the recent service auth JWT harmonization proposal, and have a revision up that sticks with a single string 'aud' field. also touches on issuer 'kid', and makes 'lxm' mandatory for XRPC endpoints.

@oppi.li I think tangled uses this package for service auth validation. any thoughts on this PR to make 'aud' validation more flexible?

for other atproto ecosystem folks: most things are working smoothly, but you may be seeing slow (high p99) handle resolution (via HTTPS well-known) for *.bsky.social handles (even projects which don't rely on bsky services often need to resolve handles as part of interop)

We are seeing elevated errors and timeouts on some Bluesky-hosted services, and are investigating.

time is an illusion anyways

among many other weird things, some indexed posts have timestamps off by about 10 hours. this impacts only one of our appview instances, so in the long run will impact 50% of users. only impacts content from that 10 hour window

it's never fun being up all night trying to keep systems online, but it is great to see co-workers shine and just bulldoze through it. we are not fully out of the woods on this incident, and it will probably be a while before there is any sort of post-mortem. but not, it's not from vibe coding.
