I would say the main reason reactionaries have been so successful over the past decade is their ability to harness the emotions of their base. Biden won, not because of anything he said, but because the base was all hopped up on street protests. Desire is the whole ballgame.

This is what I'm talking about. People have been stirred into a new political position. There's no "rational" debate that causes a shift like this. It's a pure emotional resonance from seeing bad actors do evil shit and it's seeing people standing up and fight for the possibility of something new.

Related to the problem that the nativism of Fox News is based on a USA that was already over when Rupert Murdoch moved here decades ago. Millennials didn't grow up in an 80% white America, let alone one without Asian classmates. To reestablish a 1950's racial mix would be to end their society.

I suspect that a lot of the wealthy owners and operators of national media outlets with kids in private schools fundamentally don't grasp that regular US citizens with kids in the public schools are FURIOUS because ICE is terrorizing THEIR NEIGHBORS and THEIR KIDS' BEST FRIENDS.

This is insane. I'm guessing they took his phone to an ecoATM, learned it needs to verify it was wiped (which it could not), and so took the "phone is dead" price and got maybe $5 for it. You have to give your id to get cash, so in a civil suit the kid can subpoena the ATM company for who sold it.

This was in April. US Citizens. They raided their home & stole their phones, laptops, & life savings which was in cash. They didn’t allow them to get dressed & made them stand in the rain while they stole their belongings.
