Greetings! I’m at Mariachi Plaza in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. 100-200 people are here protesting the fatal shooting of Rene Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis as well as the shooting of Keith Porter Jr. who was shot in LA by an off duty ICE agents on New Year’s. March likely.

Some people, mostly Black, Brown and Indigenous, suffered, lived, and died working to expose and protect their communities from the violence of law enforcement in this country. Don't be jerks about the work of others and act like no one knew.

When covering Minneapolis protests after the police killing of George Floyd in 2020, journalist @killermartinis.bsky.social was shot in the face and blinded with a foam-tipped bullet. She settled with the city after it promised to reform how it uses less-lethal munitions. They're still used today.

NEW: Jonathan Ross is former National Guard and Border Patrol and has been part of ICE's SWAT equivalent, a team leader overseeing FBI, ATF, and IRS agents, and a firearms instructor, according to testimony obtained by WIRED. This is from @hudsongiles.bsky.social and me:
