The effective conclusion of the ET is that trans people have to use third spaces. I think based on very poor legal analysis and uncritical adoption of "gender critical" talking points. But as I say, not binding, and all the relevant issues hopefully to be decided shortly by the High Court.

's point that people say they want a nice high street and yet aren't using their high street, in order to add: people need to also actively choose to spend more in brick and mortar shops than they would online, even if it feels unfair!

This is why the Government's strategy is doomed. The British public's view of immigration is completely disconnected from reality, and copying the last government by pursuing increasingly vicious crackdowns on legal migration is delivering the same outcome.

Of course, in the UK "regulators" are never really regulators. Their raison d'etre is political: to dress political goals in regulatory clothing, to act as reputational buffer zones, to gaslight outsiders like you and I into thinking regulation exists. But never, god forbid, to regulate.

have a column on this in the next issue of the New World - between stuff like below and people turning up to eg non-existent fireworks or Christmas markets, I wonder if AI companies won't regret releasing their products too soon: people can be lazy and/or forgiving but they don't like feeling dumb!

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

one thing i've noted a few times is reactionary centrists have never, ever, ever understood the criticism of them to the point that when they hear someone say what they find objectionable about them, they literally have no idea what they're talking about

i think what gets overlooked is that part of the humor and charm of edits like these is that you're perfectly aware that someone sat down and spent their own time making it. they chose to do something cool or silly or stupid or genius, regardless of the results that human element elevates the work

I already agree with this in principle - citizenship is an untouchable status or it is nothing - but also for reasons of prudence. “The Home Sec can revoke citizenship when he/she deems someone’s online output sufficiently offensive” is a v dangerous precedent to set with Reform leading all polls.
