Met with my MP about the EHRC Code of Practice. Spoke about the impact it would have on me as a trans man, my access to toilets, sports & my Gender Recognition Certificate. Overall, it was good, she was very supportive. But the atmosphere felt like we’d all accepted we’re fighting a losing battle.

The big thing to do is to emphasise that this isn't a ordinary EDM but actually has an impact - it moves to a vote to block the guidance. Many MP's refuse to sign EDM's as they're pointless - so you need to make it clear this isn't

My MP has invited me to a meeting on Friday to discuss the EHRC Code of Practice and its impacts on me as a trans man. I’ve agreed to go. Will let you all know what happens.

Alongside colleagues, I have tabled a motion to disapprove the Equality Act 2010: Draft Code of Practice for Services, public functions and associations. We cannot support it, and we have a responsibility to our trans constituents to resist it. Please email your MP asking them to sign EDM 240.

Was a real honour as a baby trans to be asked to represent us in an Arsenal video. Was told it was just going to be played at one game in 2022. It was received so well that Arsenal continued to play it at every game for the next two seasons. Would recommend taking a look if you haven’t seen it 👇

A month after I started estrogen Arsenal released this video where Gay Gooners members talked about the club’s support and how it helped them push forward in life (you haven’t aged a day @bernietranders.bsky.social). In an uncertain world I’ve never had to doubt my place in the Arsenal family.

Amongst many other things, what saddens me about the guidance is that it punishes openness. I’m “cis-passing” & am lucky enough to have been so for years, so people don’t know unless I tell them, & I like seeing the smile appear on trans people’s faces when I do share. I don’t want to be stealth.

Break from election stuff for a moment: LGBTQ+ rights is, alongside democratic systems, one of the areas I think it's important to use my platform as BBS to push on. The way the UK is treating trans people is absolutely despicable, and if you are an ally with a Labour MP, you should write to them.

Texted the manager of my football team to say he's supposed to make me and the other trans guys change separately to the cis guys for our tournament tonight and he's replied with "fuck the ehrc and fuck the fa" so good luck to the government on getting people to enforce this
