why did the atlantic and the cut publish nearly identical trend pieces about "loneliness influencers" by two different writers today? they talk about the exact same people and include the same anecdotes about them. so weird

tbh I get why Scorsese + other filmmakers, esp older ones, are interested in AI. They've been around long enough to see the medium change dramatically and the filmmakers who have lasted have been open to incorporating those technological changes into their work. They're wrong, but I can see it

my friend Danny wrote about how ramp fever is leading to a lot of exploitation of both land and people. I had no idea they didn't grow out west!

I completely agree with this but I think having the editor of playboy write it is intended to ragebait all the 20 year olds who are trying to do gender separatism again rather than actually make the case

The lawsuit is less about Pattie & more to create a record of defending their trademark from possible infringements. There’s a way to open yourself up to losing the TM if you don’t actively defend it. *I am not a TM atty, & idk your background so you may know way more about this than I do

And I will point out again that Patagonia didn't sue Patty Gonia for having the same name - they're both named after the same thing, after all. The company sued her after she *applied for a trademark to sell branded clothing* with her very similar name.

I think if you’re gonna make a movie about “trauma” in 2026 it has to be something totally nuts like a musical or a silent film or something. It can’t just be regular and it ESPECIALLY can’t be horror.

The thing I don’t get about graham platner is that every aspect of your personal life and history is going to cause scandal and deeply compromise the causes in which you say you believe why not just be a weird asshole as a private citizen instead of a political candidate???

It’s fun to do thought experiments but it’s annoying when people who profess to be influenced by Marxist thought will discuss every reason the left is unpopular instead of it just being that we have no money. That’s really all it is

Since Covid the club shows have gotten steadily worse and the DIY shows, while fewer than before Covid, are steadily better. Lots of really talented young comics who clubs are never gonna book but you can see them in the back of a bar on a Wednesday for whatever you decide to throw in the hat.

I think it’s true now for comedy like it is for music - if you want to see interesting stuff, go to little diy shows in the bars in your city. A lot of them suck but a good litmus test is that if there’s a trans person on the flyer the show is probably going to be good
