The reason America as a whole is going to walk on by its 250th birthday with nary a thought about it is that it is profoundly embarrassed, ashamed, and angry at what we've allowed to happen to our country

Stranger endorsing this guy, and also someone who said Harris "deserved to lose 1,000 times" against Trump. We got ourselves a pro-Trump paper dressing in leftie clothes?

A few things that I think are important to note as we talk about SEPA. The City started scoping of environmental review for the comp plan in 2022. A Draft EIS which is over 1,000 pages was issued in 2024. A Final EIS was released in early 2025. It is over 1,300 pages.

SchrĂśdingerâs SEPA appeal: filed so rarely as to be unworthy of attention and reform, and yet the city's last bulwark against turning Seattle into a treeless hellscape at the same time.

It's a big day in Seattle! Sure, Belgium and Senegal are playing in the round of 32...but it's also the public hearing on Council Bill 121215 reforming the city's SEPA appeals process. The meeting starts at 9:30am!

people apparently don't recognize that manufacturers would develop AC units that would work with e.g. common tilt-turn windows if European countries developed a healthy market for them and laws allowing them. The box form factor designed for sash windows is convenient but not the *only one possible*

The anger was largely about him saying "we'll put in an honorary bike lane like we did for Steve Hulsman" They don't want "honorary bike lanes" created after people die, they want safe bike lanes now that will prevent people from dying to begin with. Btw there is still no Steve Hulsman bike lane.

One thing that's been fun to watch during this World Cup in Seattle is conservatives realizing cities can actually be fun and exciting - especially when there's tons of people in them - and that the government can do a great job of hosting events and creating people space! More!!

Also, as a species we emit about 4 times the GHGs globally for heating as we do for cooling. We donât have these same weird rounds of âshould we *really* be heating our houses in the winter?â discourse because itâs what weâve always done and so obviously needed. Well, cooling is life-saving too.

â"European cities are set to lose between 8.5% and 14% of their on-street parking ..." This is a smart way to get drivers to care about car bloat. Bigger vehicles use more curb space, reducing the parking spots available to everyone else.

One-ways are actually mostly good. They get too much unmotivated hate in urbanist circles The safest crossings I experienced as a pedestrian in the US are in Manhattan, a grid almost exclusively made of one-ways.

But this project is far from finished. When Phase II opens this year, it will grow to 4.2 kilometres and eight hectares, making it Romania's largest linear park. And planners and officials increasingly see it as the backbone of a larger network of green and active-mobility corridors across the city.

We also need to have a more honest conversation about how driving, no matter how useful to the person doing it, imposes harms onto other people. Until we try to reduce those harms as much as possible, itâs not clear how weâre going to take the steps needed to create a safer, healthier country 8/10

We argue that this fits squarely into an emerging body of research that all points the same way: car culture and motonormativity are so entrenched, it's too late for information and incentives to make the difference. 'Hard' measures are needed if we want to get serious about reducing car harms 7/10
