The Elliot Bay Trail bike/ped detour was closed tonight (around 8:20 PM 9/23). Construction person was not helpful in providing a detour (the closest detour is a mile away!). If you're biking that route tomorrow and you notice the detour is still closed please let me know!

Irony that CM Rivera can repeated harangue OPCD about not adequately engaging the public, then propose sweeping changes to development standards that no one can even read beforehand.

This is actually kind of insane she's saying this. Density isn't a punishment but any changes that do happen to an area would be more equitably spread out by making changes across the whole city. Instead this council looks to make as few changes across the city as possible.

Allowing housing in EVERY neighborhood, rather than engaging in perennial piddly debates about tiny sections of Seattle, would greatly ease gentrification pressure in areas like the CD, CID, Southeast Seattle, and South Park because renters wouldn't be confined to tiny swaths of the city.

See a new Seattle Times Editorial Board piece about the comp plan. Maybe they'll support density? They immediately advocate for amendments 93 and 102. What did I expect?

Honestly hard not to take it personally when anti-housing activists describe the type of homes my friends and I live in as "a monstrosity" and "soulless."

Unironically the Missing Link

The Seattle City Council is about to start taking votes on the 20-year Comprehensive Plan which will determine how housing in Seattle is built. I biked around Seattle to talk to people about what we need to do to build more housing, and make our communities more walkable, and livable.

I'm leading a bike audit ride of the newly completed Waterfront and Alaskan Way bike trails this Sunday at 11 AM! We will meet on the Alaskan Way Trail across from Yesler Way.

I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.

It's going to be really funny when Mayor Wilson welcomes back the Seattle SuperSonics.

I think it's telling that the only people who seem to treat the comp plan with any urgency are the renters in Seattle. That includes elected officials. I can imagine that Harrell would actually be in a better position electorally if he could claim to have passed the comp plan on time.

Speaking of the moderate Seattle Times Editorial Board… Literally none (0) of their City of Seattle endorsements is leading their race. Even in this low turnout primary. I would love to see them explore why that is.

Congrats to Wilson for (probably) winning the primary election but I'd probably want to be ahead 7 - 10 points once all votes are counted vs only up 3 - 5 points. For context Harrell was up almost 2 points in the primary and finished 17 points ahead in the general.
