Something I really really want everyone to hear: One of the CORE principles of organizing is, you always leave room for escalation. You have to have something to hold over your opponents' heads and leverage as a real threat. Once your escalation peaks, you've played your hand. It's over.

Anyone trying to find a job or trying to stretch a grocery budget can already read that writing on the wall. It is bad out there, folks are slipping into food insecurity, and the usual safety nets (SNAP, food pantries) are less available than they used to be.

Another way to build a sense of community and shared purpose with others without completely disrupting the lives young people are already living would be to expand and strengthen labor unions.

Young people are already the most tolerant folks in the country. No one ever proposes making people 50+ do national service or some such because no one believes you can make them do anything, while it's generally accepted that young people exist to be commanded and pay for everyone else's bullshit.
