Reynard the fox is an ancient story retold through the ages its re-tellings reflect the changing world but at its core certain aspects have remained region to region, this re-telling is both beautifully written and earnestly researched and respectable. It will make you laugh and gasp! 🦊

Yet again, Anne Louise Avery articulates the deepest, and oldest, feelings. I am joining Old Wolf in reading the names of Those Who Must Be Remembered. 💔

I'll be taking a break from Noss for my next audiobook, however; next I'll be listening to the stories of Reynard the Fox, as retold by @annelouiseavery.bsky.social . I loved the book, and I can't wait to hear this audio rendition.

Can anyone very kindly help? I'm trying to locate a copy of an obscure 19th century American art journal: "The Studio. Devoted to Art, Artists, and Their Friends." Vol. II. No. 41. Published in New York, October 13, 1883. Just need to look up a reproduction of a painting in the journal.

Many found it very difficult to square the sweeping anti-Semitism & mass support for a blustering fool like Hitler with their own experiences of Germany and their German friends. They felt that normal, reasonable everyday folk would stem it somehow.

The British youth organisations tried to appeal to Germany in "a spirit of friendship." They argued that political & social discrimination on racial grounds went against the long-cherished values of justice & liberty which defined Germany. They thought that decency would prevail.

Bloomsbury, 1933, and each week my father & his pals were going to meetings & marches to try to do something, anything, about the rising anti-semitism in Germany. Everyone was fully aware of what was happening. Fully aware. This was six years before the outbreak of war.
