Same here. One thing that I started doing for alt text was using the speech-to-text thing on my phone. I find it way easier to describe a picture out loud than to write it up for some reason. If you're an artist who doesn't write alt text, try that out and see if you like it!

In this 1987 NYT article about the "Aryan Nations Hour" radio show we learn about their hopes of eventually overturning the 14th Amendment. Most readers of this story in 1987 would have found such an idea outlandish. Today the GOP speaker of the Alabama House is talking about it.

The idea of "overturning" or "repealing" the 14th Amendment was a pretty fringe proposition until recently, but it wasn't unheard of. Obviously the former Confederates wanted to do that. But it was also a white nationalist talking point in the Cold War era. This is 1988.
