Homeschooling is a perfect environment for all levels of child abuse.

The misuse and abuse of the word grooming is sadly yet one more example—the evangelical obsession with breaking children’s wills is another—of how many conservatives couldn’t care less about protecting children from actual grooming by child predators.

"I’m seeing homeschooling completely and utterly romanticized by people in my generation who were not homeschooled."

Abusing children is, for many of them, literally the point.

I encountered too many of these growing up in that world. Their names filled our home, headlined homeschool conferences, and their teachings became gospel. I escaped the reach of harm in great part, but it has been at the cost of so much to my own children and of my own role as mother.

To evangelical homeschoolers, child protection will never be a proper use of government.

Evangelicalism is teaching—and homeschooling is enabling and empowering it—that children have no rights to themselves. That they are not their own. That they owe their bodies, minds, and souls to those more powerful than them.

According to the late Catholic theologian Joseph A. Grassi’s book "Children’s Liberation," the Kingdom of God belonging to children is no mere metaphor. Children are literally "the first actual owners of the kingdom," imbued with "power and authority."

While most eyes are on Chicago and Portland the republicans fascist foot soldiers are waging war against the citizens of California in increasingly violent and brazen attacks on civilians.

Hauling children naked from their homes isn't what good, moral people do. "Several South Shore residents reported witnessing federal immigration agents forcibly removing unclothed children from apartments during the pre-dawn raid in Chicago."

If child liberation theology is only intellectual to its advocates and adherents, then it is an idol and a false gospel.

Frankly, I don't care if parenting without violence is more difficult than parenting "gently" or "peacefully." We don't treat children like human beings with human rights because it is easy. We do it because violence against children is evil.

Children, right now, are being abused and killed because of the choices adults are making. If the child liberation theology I am promoting does not help address this problem, it’s not worth my energy or time.

By recommending this disturbing advice from Joseph Nicolosi, James Dobson directly promoted and encouraged child sexual abuse.

It is foolish to argue or act like fathers, parents, or the nuclear family are silver bullets we can use against child abuse, domestic violence, and other familial threats. Rather than silver bullets against abuse, they are most often the perpetrators.

The parental rights movement is antithetical to both child liberation theology and the Gospel of Jesus for the exact same reason: it does not take Jesus seriously when he says his kingdom belongs to children.

You can see that clearly in the media they make: children are punished for various things from lying to being interested in fantasy novels their peers are reading but overall it starts with the parents being in the right and disobedience and rebellion (as in witchcraft) being a sin.

Yeah my mom literally gave me the textbooks and answer key and left me on my own. I always thought I hated math until I took college algebra and pre calculus and realized I actually love it when I can understand it.

The way Saxon "teaches" math does not include any conceptual understanding. This means if you forget a procedure, you literally don't know what to do because you don't understand why anything works. It's like teaching spelling without learning what the words mean.

This is why every adult raised evangelical is psychologically scarred.

Many homeschool alumni’s frustrations with Saxon Math related to how it was taught: most alumni said they were required to teach themselves and also grade their own work.
