Look, I'm just gonna say it: Demolition Man is an extremely underappreciated film in general, and *completely* unappreciated as a cyberpunk film in particular. It's also truly one of the great satires from top to bottom. If you like RoboCop and/or Idiocracy, Demolition Man feels like a natural fit.

I am choosing to read it as growth on Elizabeth’s part—she maintains her first impressions but develops a fondness of people in the fullness of their flattering aspects as well as their flaws. It also reframes to me how Elizabeth might deeply love her family, quirky as they are. This is so deft!!!

Anyway, I love that the book is now in a place where a character like Lady Catherine is still very much who she is, a bit of a haughty busybody, but the book now paints her with warmth, which is SO good!
