FPTP is like The One Ring of politics in the UK. They know they need to destroy it, but once it's in their hands they think "Why shouldn't we keep it? We can use it for good!" and then everything goes dead-Boromir-shaped

I don't think folks younger than 30 know what the internet once legitimately promised to be (and I would argue briefly was): a boundary-less space of pretty much uncommodified information and communication. A mix between community bulletin boards and university library stacks.

The missus and I were having a light-hearted argument about whether we eat porridge or drink porridge. It escalated unexpectedly, words were exchanged, and she revealed she's been fucking someone on the side, so I suppose we're splitting up. Because of porridge.

A guy we know pitched a story to a mag about former skateboarders going back to their old haunt in middle age. My BIL(52)went with him as part of the story. BIL is now back home with a broken ankle and the writer is home with a broken vertebrae. The only possible way the story could have gone.

You may have noticed that the word for ‘night’ in many languages appears to be that language’s word for ‘eight’ with an ‘N' in front of it. English: N + eight = Night German: N + acht = Nacht French: N + huit = Nuit Spanish: N + ocho = Noche Italian: N + otto = Notte Portuguese: N + oito = Noite ⬇️

This will be the first search for a new James Bond that won't involve the film's long-standing producers, the Broccoli family. Which is a shame, because they had an interesting way of screentesting all potential new Bonds with a really odd scene, for a really clever reason. Mini 🧵
