A number of Jewish organizations are shrilly insisting that any criticism of Israeli genocide and warmongering is an illegitimate attack on Jews. At the same time, an increasing number of non-Jewish people are insisting that any attack on Jews is a legitimate attack on Israel. This sucks, man

The behavior of our big beautiful billionaires over the past several decades is psychologically what I can only describe as "Crying out for consequences." They can't stop themselves and deep down they need to be stopped. They need it as much as we do

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month. It’s about oil and regime change. And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

brings together Obama’s sense of ‘us’ and Bernie’s honesty about a ‘them’ who profit when we’re divided. In a city where the whole world lives side by side, the closeness of so much difference reminds us how much we share and how empty the politics of fear really are.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

In case it ever comes up: I am categorically opposed to political violence and assassination. It is both morally wrong and almost always ineffective at achieving positive social change. It is, bluntly, a net negative for society.

There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

There are a whole lot of people in media who hold opinions that they know will ostracize them from liberal polite society and whose entire output is now explaining to liberals to drop their objections to those opinions, not for them obviously, but because "the voters" demand it.

Part of my answer to "how'd we get here?" is an elite, institutional culture deeply opposed to calling bullshit. To do so is uncouth, uncivil, biased. Stated rationales must be taken at face value. There's no such thing as bad faith. Questioning motives is wrong. It's just debate, have some respect.

My basic response to the question of pronouns defaults to, "Why would I speak to someone in a way that hurts them on purpose?" A lot of people - maybe most people - in this country apparently don't feel that way, and I guess I'll just never understand that.
