Having spaces for free, safe, and public things is super important! It builds the idea of the library as not just a place that fosters an interest in reading, but one that provides a general social good.

I see a lot of discussions about how much libraries offer for adults, but I'm also impressed by the array of activities that my local library system offers for children. Not just books but scavenger hunts, reading events, craft and science labs, family movie nights, community gatherings, etc.
