One of the most pernicious cissexual myths is that **trans ppl** are obsessed w gender when the average cis woman would never think of wearing a bow tie and the average cis man gets angry if he has to drink out of a coffee cup w too many dainty flowers glazed on it.

This is actually a big deal, and it's okay if you don't understand why. What's going on is a whole lot of academic insider baseball. But the simplest version is that the guy who defined what evidence-based medicine *is* just said SEGM is extremist and pseudoscientific. Let me explain.

The problem stems from cis people being unable to cope with the fact that, among the many things that are not binary, PERCEIVED SEX isn't binary either. Some cis people look like members of the opposite sex. Some look like trans people. Some trans people look cis-passing. Some look in-between.

You can glass half-full and glass half-empty this stuff. For the present, the most anyone should hope for is a view of LGBTQ+ people as no more sinful than divorcees or people who have sex outside of marriage. If mainstream Catholics got there, it would be a huge divergence from evangelicals.
