Second I'm reminded of the Lib Dems in coalition. They campaigned in one direction then governed from another, alienating progressive liberal voters. Year on year they lost councillors, MEPs and MPs. But they didn't pivot. They didn't ditch their unpopular leader.

Its doubly galling because Starmer and Labour have (and not without reason) spent years insisting Reform curious voters should be respected and taken seriously. Then with the Greens they're all "LOL you've been taken in by those nutters, U morons, don't be daft." Its playground level ignorance.

Think this is right and it is a big part of the major dysfunctions of our politics the extent to which it attracts men who think shouting at things makes them heroic fixers and the job of women is to get out of the way.

Whatever Starmer may think of her party, this is massively insulting and patronising to Hannah Spencer, who seems to be a thoroughly decent and sincere person who is in politics for the right reason.
