"village" mentality is what sustains conservatism. not being able to do anything without the Grandma Gestapo reporting your every move. depending on the easily withdrawn kindness of others instead of impersonal but reliable services. and of course obeying aristocratic landowners

Customers set to be screwed as Rad Power Bikes files for bankruptcy + Former St. Paul Councilmember says a Rad battery fire destroyed his house
From the Minnesota Star Tribune. Seattle-based Rad Power Bikes filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday, three weeks after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC") issued a product safety warning urging anyone with certain models of Rad Power e-bike batteries to immediately cease using them and take them to a hazardous waste collection center. The agency was aware of 31 reports of the batteries catching fire, including instances in which the batteries ignited when not in use or being charged.

High speed rail is a non-trivial effort with massive construction impacts and steep costs but it's never going to be cheaper, so governments should really start a semi-permanent program of building the most obvious corridors...or are we just going to keep flying from Seattle to Portland forever?

I get why people are excited about Waymos. I really do. But, I think we can also look back at the effects of a century of enthusiasm for cars and say, “Going all in for cars hasn’t worked out well at all.” And from that, try to see what the next century holds, and try to do better *now*.

Voter turnout in the Seattle election has reached 55.95%. That's the highest mayoral election voter turnout this century for the city, besting even the 2009 election when there was 54.99% voter turnout.

Check your ballot. It’s possible that it’s been challenged due to leaving the ballot envelope unsigned or a signature mismatch. You can cure that with King County Elections so your ballot is counted!
