Nadhim Zahawi describes Nowak as someone "who lost his life because of incompetence". Greg Dyke points out that nobody is saying the mistake by police caused the death. Phillips intervenes with "nobody knows". A lack of basic research on a very sensitive topic. Paragraph 16 of sentencing remarks:

english isn't for cowards. if you're not saying 'torpify,' that's a skill issue. there's no Académie Française telling you what to do. if you try to type 'pallific' and freak out when you see a little red underline, maybe you're not ready to roll with the big dogs.

There was this old man called Charlie you used to frequently visit a previous workplace of mine and he always found an excuse to remove an item or layer of clothing in front of us. He'd usually start by interrupting us and saying "níl sé fuar, lads. Níl sé fuar inniu". Thinking about him today.

Rishi Sunak tells Radio 4 that "AI is changing every aspect of our economy and our lives, and if I was back in office and looked at my diary and where I was going to spend my time, I would spend it on that" At no point does he or the BBC mention the £373,000 given to him every year by an AI company

Interesting that the idea of another EU referendum is regularly discussed on broascast media as something that would cause division and thus a bad idea. But plans to deport literally millions of people are discussed as administrative questions.

There’s a weird attitude among many Irish people that no punishment is too great for the smallest of crimes. Plenty of Irish people are also racist. When those two things meet, you get the most disgusting opinions imaginable

There’s a glaring historical inaccuracy in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film of The Odyssey: they didn’t have cameras back then. Theatres should have a blank screen and an old man reading out the script

Just had this from Planet Labs, the US government have asked satellite imagery providers for "voluntarily" restrictions on access to satellite imagery. Given a lot of them provide satellite imagery to the USG we can probably guess the outcome of not acquiescing to that request.

Good result for Liverpool, but I really didn’t enjoy that Arsenal-Chelsea match. Standard of football in the PL has nosedived; every team playing for corners they’ll only take after the long, customary 10-man brawl in the six-yard box. The pace and excitement of Rangers-Celtic drove it home
