Great meeting today with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Government Affairs Director, Dean Warsh. As a proud IBEW member, it’s always good to talk about how we can stand up for workers by advancing strong, pro-labor policies such as the Faster Labor Contracts Act.

It’s an embarrassment that the federal minimum wage hasn’t been raised in over 16 years. This summer, Republicans voted to give tax breaks to billionaires. When will they finally vote to support the American worker?

Tipped workers earn every dollar they make. House Republicans want to weaken the rules that protect them, even though the sub-minimum wage hasn’t changed in decades. If your paycheck depends on tips, this bill puts you at risk. It’s not a worker protection act — it’s a corporate giveaway.

Congrats to the workers of UFCW Local 152 at TQ Baking in Vineland on ratifying a strong new contract. They secured across-the-board raises, affordable union healthcare, better retirement benefits, and improved safety and time off. Proof that when workers stick together, they win.

I was glad to be joined recently in the Immigration Subcommittee by General President of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Jimmy Williams, TPS recipients, & other members of IUPAT. I’ll keep fighting for a path to citizenship for TPS recipients.

As a former UFCW union member, it was a privilege and honor to speak with the International Association of Fire Fighters president, Edward A. Kelly, at a recent Labor Caucus meeting. I’m committed to securing the rights, safety, and futures our firefighters deserve.

Last week, I spoke with workers in DC from The Duck & The Peach, La Collina, and The Wells, about their plans to unionize. It’s clear they want what every worker deserves: a fair process and a voice at work. I stand with them and support their right to organize without intimidation or retaliation.

I introduced the LET’S Protect Workers Act with @bobbyscott.house.gov, @norcross.house.gov, @debbiedingell.house.gov, & @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social. Our labor laws are so weakly enforced, and the penalties so minimal, that for many companies, breaking the law is just cheaper than following it.

Coming from the trades, I know workers deserve a fair day’s pay and a safe place to do their jobs. The LETS Protect Workers Act will finally crack down on bad employers who break the law and give the working people building this country the rights they deserve.

NYC is a union town. I am proud to stand with the over 200 Amazon drivers at the DBK1 facility in Woodside who joined the Teamsters and are fighting for the pay and benefits they deserve. Amazon must recognize their union and start bargaining for a fair contract now.

Several months ago, I led a letter with the @laborcaucus.house.gov, signed by every House Democrat, demanding the restoration of federal workers’ collective bargaining rights. Now, the House is finally being forced to vote on the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act.
