Today I joined the Bryant University Global Trade Summit, New England’s premier conference on international trade. We discussed AI, U.S. trade policy, and how Rhode Island can attract investment, grow exports, and stay competitive in the global economy.

Great conversation at the New England Council breakfast this morning. I spoke about lowering costs by reversing Trump tariffs, supporting affordable clean energy, and focusing on economic policy where you don't have to know a guy at Mar-a-Lago to be able to compete.

Health insurance costs in RI are set to rise & tax credits that help people afford care will expire soon. Congress must act. I am calling for a budget that lowers health care costs while R's push one that makes the crisis worse. We need to protect care & lower costs.

We secured a huge win for RI seniors, successfully pressuring Trump to release funds for the Americorps Seniors program that runs programming at facilities in RI. This funding should not have been held up to begin with. The disruptions from Elon's DOGE continue to cause chaos.

📈 A new report shows that inflation would be a third lower without Trump’s tariffs. Working people are paying more than they should because of bad policy. The President should bring costs down immediately by repealing his reckless tariffs.

It was good spending time with @federalreserve Chairman Powell during his visit to Rhode Island today. In order to avoid the hyperinflation and corruption that has plagued countries that politicized their central banks, the Fed must remain independent.

Trump’s health care cuts and chaotic tariffs are creating a crisis, and he won’t even meet with Democratic leaders to negotiate a fix. We need a bipartisan budget that lowers costs. Time to come to the table.
