I cannot and will not in good conscience vote for a budget that will make health insurance unaffordable for countless people. We are in a health care affordability crisis, and I will continue to fight to restore ACA funding to lower health care costs for Americans.

Local police work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, often on tight budgets. I am proud to have secured federal funding to help the Cranston Police Department upgrade its fleet and support its K-9 unit. 🐾

I am proud to have secured $350,000 for the Cranston Police Department to upgrade their vehicles that support the K-9 unit that helps with search-and-rescue and comforting victims of violent crimes. Honored to support Cranston’s four-legged officers! 🐾

We all saw this coming. Criminals are posing as ICE agents to prey on innocent people. This is the result of ICE wearing masks and using inappropriate violent tactics. Along with my Homeland Dems colleagues, I will investigate these crimes and the Trump Admin policies that have enabled them.

PBN: “HealthSource RI enrollees could see monthly insurance premiums double next year.” Since open enrollment began this week, I have heard from Rhode Islanders whose premiums are jumping by thousands of dollars. Any agreement to reopen the government must save health care.

Trump is using hunger as a political weapon, depriving 40 million Americans – most of them children and the elderly – of SNAP benefits in defiance of a court order. It is horrific that a President would give $40 billion to Argentina while depriving his own citizens of food.

Law enforcement officers risk their lives to protect ours. They deserve the best equipment - including for the smallest officers! Cranston just received 4 new K-9 fleet vehicles, paid for by a grant I was honored to secure, so patrol and therapy dogs can keep RIers safe. 🐾🚔

Today I joined Rhode Islanders helping neighbors during a difficult time. 500 baskets from the Elisha Project were distributed in Cranston. This is community at its best, stepping up when Trump’s attempt to withhold SNAP benefits put people at risk of going hungry.

Hunger should never be used as a political weapon. It took two orders from federal judges for Trump to release funding for SNAP. Now Republicans in Washington need to extend the Affordable Care Act funding, reopen the government, and put this insanity behind us.
