At yesterday’s House Armed Services Committee hearing, I pressed the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, General Anderson, on why this administration dismantled USAID and how that affects our regional diplomacy. The president is alienating our key allies and leaving a void for our competitors to fill.

At today’s House Armed Services Committee hearing, I questioned the Secretary of the Army on his position regarding the consolidation of the military’s overly complicated duty status system.

This week, I voted for the 3rd time to support Congress’ right to declare war. The power to formally declare war has always belonged to Congress, not the president. Iran is a bad actor and should be held responsible, but the president has no right to wage war on a whim.

At today’s @democrats-armedservices.house.gov hearing, I pressed the Chief of Navy Operations, Admiral Daryl Caudle, on what concerns he shared with the Secretary of Defense for the deployment extension of the USS Ford.

This week, I voted to honor our fallen law enforcement officers and commemorate our community’s heroes lost in the line of duty. The legislation honors two officers, Officers Samuel Riveros and Terry Long, who gave their lives to keep the San Gabriel Valley safe.

I visited Haaker Underground in La Verne this week and heard from local equipment dealers about how the current administration’s tariff regime raises costs and hurts business. I enjoyed touring the facility and seeing the new agricultural and construction equipment.

I’m proud to have secured +$3 million in community project funding for the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority. I advocated for this critical funding to ensure our community continues to have access to clean drinking water.

The U.S.S. Ford was deployed at sea longer than any other modern U.S. aircraft carrier. During Wednesday’s House Armed Services Committee hearing, I asked Secretary Hegseth why. I’m glad the ship and crew are finally on their way home.

This International Workers Day we honor the labor movement’s achievements and celebrate the progress they made for workers rights. I am proud to recognize their brave work protesting unfair working conditions, advocating for worker safety, and fighting for higher wages.

Secretary Hegseth and I don’t agree on a lot, but we’re in agreement here—we need to fix the overly complicated system of duty statuses. It’s what’s best for our servicemembers.

Republicans’ DHS shutdown is finally over. After nearly 80 days, House Republicans finally joined Democrats to reopen DHS, pay TSA agents, and keep people safe—without increasing ICE’s slush fund.

The Republican Farm Bill does nothing to bring rising grocery costs down for American farmers and working families. Instead, it protects the $187 billion in SNAP cuts made by Republicans in the One Big Ugly Bill.
