The number of federal troops needed in Portland is ZERO. Donald Trump is using taxpayer dollars to manufacture a crisis. If he really wanted to help Oregon, he would reverse cuts to Medicaid and support funding for housing and education.

Here’s a message from Portland to Donald Trump; we don’t need or want the military in our streets.

Donald Trump is lying. I was at the ICE facility two days ago and saw a few peaceful protesters, not a “siege.”

We are now hearing rumors that the Trump Administration may be increasing federal forces in Portland. The power of this city is in our ability to care for our neighbors. Please take care of each other, stay safe, and stay peaceful. Don't take Trump's bait.

On Thursday I visited the ICE facility in Portland with colleagues in the Oregon delegation.

The Trump administration’s campaign of cruelty against immigrants is tearing families apart, not making communities safer. I am working closely with the Oregon delegation to address the gross violations of civil and human rights we see with the authoritarian mass deportation policies.

It’s National Estuaries Week, and I convened a roundtable discussion with estuary, environmental, and scientific experts about how we can continue to work on a bipartisan basis to protect and support estuaries.

It was wonderful to see the new murals in downtown Hillsboro with Mayor Pace and others and learn more about the city's Public Art Program. This city-wide program supports local artists, increases public art downtown, and sends a welcoming message to residents and visitors.
