Republicans passed unprecedented cuts to #Medicaid & nutrition assistance to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Now, hundreds of thousands of CT residents are at risk of losing healthcare & vital resources. The ripple effect could be devastating.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11th. We honor the heroes who rose in the face of tragedy and the resilience of a nation. We all mourn together.

Teachers can confront antisemitism in the classroom by educating themselves, challenging incidents and consistently fostering inclusive classroom environments.

This is our 11th hearing and still no real efforts to protect students from discrimination. When politicians use antisemitism as a partisan political tool as opposed to doing the actual work to help- it hurts all students.

Combating antisemitism will take real work. Hard work. False charges or smears of antisemitism undermine the difficult work we are all trying to do to combat the resurgence of this ancient problem.

As Ranking Member of the Nutrition Subcommittee I want to work on policy that feeds people. Yet 9 months into the year, 21 weeks in the Congress & 9 weeks after the largest cut to food assistance in our history, Republicans are rewriting history on the harm their “One Big Beautiful Bill” will cause.

Since 2019, I have nominated close to a hundred students to US military academies. We invited officers from the Air Force Academy to present to Waterbury Public School students. They explained the benefits, shared the process and answered questions.

74,640 have died from gun violence during Speaker Mike Johnson’s tenure.
Yet no gun-safety legislation has been considered on the House floor. The Gun Violence Prevention Task Force wrote to Speaker Johnson, calling on him to finally address this public health crisis.

Gutting these funds closes doors of opportunity & widens achievement gaps between disadvantaged students & their more affluent peers.
