Donald Payne Jr. was a towering leader in our community. That’s why during his birthday week, I introduced a bill that celebrated him and his legacy in transit. We are pushing to rename Newark’s Penn Station after Congressman Payne, Jr.

A man detained at Delaney Hall in Newark has died in ICE custody. This is an outrage. My statement on the matter is here.

When people walk into Newark Penn Station, they should know the name of the man whose work helped keep it moving. That’s why, on his heavenly birthday, I introduced a bill to name it after Rep. Donald Payne, Jr.

ICE put these rules in place to keep members of Congress from doing our jobs. The courts have just told ICE that these rules can’t stand. Rightly so—ICE can’t be allowed to operate in the dark.

Working people need to come first. AI should create opportunities, not shrink them. Today at House Homeland Security Committee, I spoke with experts to explore how we can make sure innovation puts our communities first.

I've seen moms afraid to pick up their kids, people afraid to go to the doctor. This administration terrorizing people on the street based off the color of their skin, racially profiling. We cannot allow ICE to operate in the dark. I will always stand up to protect my community.

Americans deserve affordable healthcare. Dems have fought relentlessly to create a path forward to stop price hikes on care—and now there is one. Mike Johnson needs to stop being a coward and bring this bill to a vote immediately. This shouldn’t wait.

Energy bills are just too high. So I’m taking action. Yesterday, I introduced the UPLIFT Act, a plan to support your family by making the bills easier to pay during inflation spikes. No one should be pushed to the brink by the price of necessities like electricity and heat.

It’s so important to support our small businesses in times of disaster, like flash floods. These are the real problems our neighbors face—I’m proud to bring NJ voices to the ears of the House Small Business Committee and the SBA to ask the questions our businesses need answered.

The Jewish community should feel safe to celebrate Hanukkah without the threat of antisemitic violence.  Hate cannot become normal anywhere. My heart goes out to the victims and the mourning families of Sydney.

The mass shooting at Brown University is horrific. My heart is breaking for the students and community in Rhode Island. No one should be subjected to the terror of gun violence at school or anywhere. This is still an active situation. If you are in the area, stay sheltered.

This administration’s DHS will get no ‘thank you’ from me for its lawlessness.

Three detainees have died in ICE facilities in Eli Crane’s home state this year. I want to know how many times he’s visited an ICE facility there. Because today, instead of serving Arizona, he was attacking me for conducting oversight and standing up to protect my community.

The bottom line is this administration wants to do everything in their power, no matter how they get there, no matter how many rules they break, to stop Congress from holding them accountable.  I showed up to protect the people that I represent. I plan on continuing to do that.

Employee ownership is one of the best ways to help people build real wealth and create a fairer economy. When employees share in ownership, they also share in the profits, have a voice in decision making, and reinvest in their communities.

I will keep standing up to defend immigrants and protect our communities.

It does not matter who you are or where you are, no person or place in this country is safe from gun violence. I’m horrified by the shooting in D.C. today that injured two National Guard members. I’m grateful for the first responders on the ground.

I just think in the richest country in the world, we should not be having a discussion about who gets healthcare and who doesn’t. That’s why I voted no on a “deal” that did nothing to protect care and why I will always be in the fight for better. Read about what that fight means:

Trump continues to attack members of Congress and anyone who works to hold him accountable. I’m no stranger to that. He wants to silence dissent. He may be starting with elected officials, but this is extremely dangerous for every American.

I’m working to get more details about this raid, but let me be clear: this administration is using fear as a tool. They have been doing so since Jan. 23 when they raided this same Newark market. We owe it to our neighbors to stand up for them. That’s exactly what I’ll keep doing.

Today, my bill on employee ownership passed markup. Employee ownership is one of the best ways to help people build wealth and create a fairer economy. By expanding assistance for these businesses, this bill puts power back where it belongs: in the hands of working people.

The American people deserve accountability and survivors deserve justice. It’s time for the truth to come out—release the Epstein files.

This week FOR the 10th… I was standing for your healthcare. On Wednesday, I got surgery, and after I was released, I boarded a train to head to D.C. to vote hell no on a “deal” to that did nothing to protect healthcare for the American people. Fighting for you comes first.

Today’s decision is disappointing. I am not in this fight only for myself, and I’m concerned that this decision will simply embolden the administration. This case is not over. I am committed to protecting my community, our people, and our country.

Leaving D.C. right now after coming down today to stand strong, vote no, and keep fighting for you, NJ-10. I came straight from surgery this morning to make sure Republicans heard us loud and clear: affordable healthcare matters! The fight continues.

Last night, I introduced five amendments to try to make this funding bill less terrible. Republicans blocked every single one.

Republicans won’t, so Americans are counting on Democrats to keep fighting for them. We can’t roll over for just the promise of an ACA vote in the Senate. Premiums are going to spike and lives are on the line. I won’t support a “deal” that doesn’t even try to protect healthcare.

Trump’s administration desperately wants to steal SNAP benefits from people who need them. They are snatching back food from hungry people by trying to make states, who have already sent out funds, claw them back.
