Yesterday, I helped pass out food at Toni’s Kitchen, where volunteers are making sure people don’t go hungry in the face of the Republican Shutdown and Trump’s attacks on SNAP. In New Jersey, we will keep doing what Washington should be doing: taking care of people.

On Friday, a judge ordered the administration to continue paying SNAP. But even if this administration follows the court’s order and doesn’t defy them, as they’ve routinely done in the past, we expect delays to benefits. Families can't afford the administration’s games.

We know that while the government is shut down thanks to Congressional Republicans, the 10th needs more, not less. That’s why I was out in the community in October fighting for more for you.

During a shutdown, people like TSA workers and troops don’t get paid. But do you know who does? The president still gets paid. Members of Congress still get paid. It’s wrong. That’s why, as soon as the Republicans shut down the government, I put my salary on hold.
