I hold many grudges against "Artificial Intelligence", but perhaps the biggest one is how confusing this era is for all us Weird Al Yankovic fans.

I always admired Kaleb Horton's writing so much and am terribly sorry to hear of his death. It's a long list of singular writers who didn't have the careers they should have because of the people, places, and things that killed online media, but his name is right at the very top. I hate all of it.

I'd never heard of Kaleb Horton until just now. The only words of his I've ever read are these. They sure make me want to go out and find everything he ever wrote.

Just read the news about Kaleb Horton. Absolutely devastating. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but we were friendly online pals in the days when Twitter was not yet a hellscape. Kaleb was simply... cool, in the way that only someone who is wholly true to themselves can be.

I was not a close friend of Kaleb Horton by any means, but pretty much any time I’d joke about Huell Howser, another devotee of the weird parts of our beautiful Golden State, he’d riff along with me. I can only hope they’re together in a better place talking about the Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee.

Merely a Facebook post but it’s as evocative and emotional as a magazine piece. I miss Kaleb already.

And now I'm just spelunking around and here's this Facebook post by Kaleb Horton from September 2017. It was three months after MTV dumped its freelancers. I'm sure it would have been a piece there; instead he posted this on FB just to have it written out: Toys 'R' Us as societal microcosm.

And, as so many have noted, Kaleb Horton was amazing on Twitter, much like the also recently departed John Whitson. Funny as hell -- but the ire, when raised and delivered for damn good reason? Did some other searching on how back in 2013 Kaleb Horton was as obsessed with the Lewis _L'Amour_ mystery album as much as anyone for a bit. He posted this during his relatively brief time on ILX -- very him:
