Last night's F.H. Cava reading: a comics biography of nineteenth-century Spanish bandit and folk hero Luis Candelas, serialized in Madriz in 1984-1985 and displaying Cava's usual interest in noir archetypes, historical inquiry, and leftwing political analysis.

A few choice pages from El Artefacto Perverso (1994) drawn by Federico del Barrio, scripted by Felipe Hernández Cava. It was just reprinted in a new edition last year by Astiberri, and a translation should be a top priority for any English-language art comics publisher.
