From 2008-2018 the video games industry existed for financial interests to incubate what they wanted to become the new economy. Gambling on everything, addiction by design, mediated social spaces, even massive GPU production. They don't need games anymore so they left games behind, wounded.

LLM writing grates on me, I hate it. but for a lot of people, it's better at outputting a particular academic/workplace-appropriate style than they are. we don't just need to push back on AI, we need to push back on the ideas about what's desirable in text

What a stupid year

There is a category of game industry guy who constantly posts info graphics about game dev on LinkedIn but never actually makes anything. The comments are full of people indiscriminately trusting the content as if it were a biblical text and it makes my brain feel like it's leaking out of my ears.
