I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it. The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!

The Celebrity Traitors isn’t just the best thing on tv right now, it’s the best thing that’s *been* on tv in at least three years. Multiple moments in the last episode had me exactly like this

Glad to see Celebrity Traitors is no different than regular Traitors when it comes to reading intelligent analysis of what's going on as a cause for suspicion. David Olusoga: "Think logically. Don't get swept along by groupthink." The rest: "He's being too clever. Burn him!"

Really enjoyed Superman, but I’m starting to worry that James Gunn has a cheat code to my emotions because he seems to have my EXACT music taste. ‘This is the Day’ and ‘Dog Days are Over’ in GotG Vol.3 was some absolutely *diabolical* work

I’ll say it: I want the guy who made Better Man to make the Beatles movies. Don’t let Danny Boyle near them. The story of the Beatles is a technicolour tragicomedy about the four most charismatic twentysomethings to ever live. The last thing they need is a dark, reverent reboot

Sidebar from my thread: the *only* part of Uprising that completely works for me is the reveal that he’s “dating” a piece of kaiju brain. It’s so viscerally upsetting that it has to be a Del Toro idea

’s observation that people now view social media as something that is done to them rather than something they might actually actively curate. It’s very sad and embodies all the things I was optimistic and wrong about as a teen.

There is a fascinating assumption here - that I don’t think the Discourse has picked up on - that the point of home cooking is to *replicate specific* fast food items. No shit you won’t be able to replicate a chipotle burrito! You can definitely make something BETTER
