always so upsetting when the city of #oakland doesn't leverage every opportunity. they were able to include a bus bulb (wider sidewalk) as part of the kissel hotel development, but didn't include a bus bench. so citizen volunteers did it. the frikking hotel could've paid for this if city req'd it.

Last night, brand new public art at Great Highway Park was defaced. Local artists painted this mural & have been harassed for doing so. People have every right to oppose the creation of this park. But vandalism — & particularly defacement of public art & harassment of artists — crosses a line.
