I once in 2014 self-applied the word “woke” and immediately felt self-conscious and embarrassed, but it still captured well the feeling of seeing Ferguson events with clarity that I previously hadn’t been capable of during the Oscar Grant protests in our neighborhood a few years prior. It’s useful!

The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that woke, for lack of a better word, is good. Woke is right, woke works. Woke clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

Also, when you defy Trump, you’re kind of implicitly making fools of the elite law firms and universities and media companies and billionaires and Congress, which is fun.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
