Media Narratives about our city government have been unflattering lately, but this was a great reminder of all the caring and thoughtful people working to meet our needs. Did you know we have two full-time veterinarians tending to impounded or surrendered pets? Hundreds of stories like this.

Really enjoyed sitting in on the Capital Long-range Improvement Committee’s proposal meeting. CLIC is an appointed committee that guides our investment priorities. Departments presented proposals for things like street redesign and buildings, including the controversial MPD training facility.

Happy Tax Day, Minneapolis! Despite the tragedy of how many of our tax dollars are being used right now, I still believe in the power and importance of our city budget and I’m hopeful we can use it to care for those in need and build stronger communities for everyone. Some more Tax Day thoughts:

Tax Enthusiasts! It's been a difficult few months in Minneapolis, but the weather is turning and that means budget season is on the horizon. That will bring challenges, but also opportunities to build the city we want and deserve. Here are some things I am tracking as your loyal BET VP 1/

Lots of emotions and questions following Homan's announcement. But the thing I keep coming back to is this: We cannot go back. We must take this moment, reflect on the power we discovered, and build a city that is stronger, more caring, and more connected. A city that can do this can do anything.

A powerful ceremony to honor Renee Good today at Powderhorn Park including touching words from her surviving family. Minneapolis will remember her sacrifice and try to live up to her example.

Amidst so much chaos and heartbreak, it was a joy to convene my precinct’s caucus last night. We gathered as neighbors to share our values and make collective decisions about how to put them into practice. We even shared some laughs. Thanks to the good people of 8-2 for such a lovely evening.

I am joining CM Chughtai and many others in calling on @governorwalz.mn.gov to enact an eviction moratorium immediately. The federal occupation is preventing thousands of people — documented and not — from earning a living. Letting this disruption turn into mass displacement would be a disaster.1/

After this awful day, I was glad to join thousands of neighbors and stand united against the federal government’s violent and disruptive presence in our city. Grateful to local leaders at every level of government who have called for ICE to leave immediately. I echo their demand.

Horrified by news that ICE has shot a protester in South Minneapolis. Their presence represents a reckless & destructive over-reach of federal power. Grateful for leaders like @sorenwithward8.bsky.social and all who have joined the observing efforts. Federal agents must leave our city immediately.

Since the election, a number of people have asked what my title is. I wasn’t sure I had one but it turns out I am a ‘commissioner’ after all 💅

In my first act of political bravery, I confessed to @nissamitchell.com that I don't care to know much about beer. I did, however, greatly enjoy her column on the favorite beers of Twin Cities local electeds 🍻

A lot of interesting information just in these excerpts: ✅ The city saved money by building its own restroom rather than outsourcing. ✅ City staff was able to experiment with design features to ensure success. ✅ Good staffing by effective ambassadors improved conduct. Good job, team 👊

I would like to reassure all of my constituents that my office has responded to Nissa’s urgent request. I apologize for the brief delay during this time of transition and will not let it happen again.

Enthusiasm around the BET race was palpable this year. The people yearn for tax policy discourse.

With 42,000 (‼️) votes, it appears I will be elected to the Board of Estimate and Taxation. Thanks to everyone who helped out or lent some energy to our humble campaign. I ran on my desire to help fund a brighter future for Minneapolis and I will do everything I can to come through for our city.
