Central Marin Police Department, which covers San Anselmo, Larkspur, and Corte Madera has their annual report out. Traffic citations are up 37% over the 5-year average, collisions are down 42%, and hit-and-run collisions are down 67% yoy.

Modern cars are too flipping big. This Rivian was parked all the way up to the curb stop, but was still taking up half the drive aisle at Tilden Steam Trains. If everyone drove this car, you'd drop capacity at the parking lot by half.

The failure of the Berkeley bicycle network in a single trip. Biking with the kid from Willard Park to our friends new San Pablo Park, I had to switch back and forth between Derby and Ward four times because the city can't actually give you *one street* with safe crossings of every 4-lane arterial.

San Marin Drive in Novato is an example of one of the more challenging designs to switch over from 1950s auto-centric suburbia to a bike-friendly design. You can't put in bike lanes without dropping parking or a lane, and you can't do a standard road diet because of the median.

Gambling is such a cancer. I'm so profoundly uninterested in sports betting, and yet even I saw Kalshi offering a billion dollars for a perfect March Madness bracket (the odds against are literally like a quadrillion to one) with a free entry and my first thought was, "Well...maybe?"

A bold new bill would significantly expand federal funding for walking and biking infrastructure by treating them as essential tools to accomplish America's transportation goals — even as some in Congress and the White House incorrectly dismiss them as distractions.

Another tragic example of an elderly driver almost certainly stepping on the gas rather than the brake. Thankfully no one else was killed, but given the amount of foot traffic in Sausalito, someone else could easily have been taken with the driver.

Berkeley's two-way bikeway connector at Mabel/Dwight/Bonar has gone in. I didn't realize that they were going to stop control Dwight! Except for a few people who had not gotten the memo sending the stop sign, it seemed to be working well!

It is the height of irony that on the one segment of Telegraph Ave where Oakland DOT said they *had* to install a painted rather than a protected bike lane (over the objections of advocates) they have now installed concrete blocks to evict the homeless encampment.

Sausalito, CA is planning to spend a total of $90k of their sales tax (intended for quality of life improvements, sidewalk maintenance, parks, and youth programs) to wriggle their way out of AB 413, the state law requiring 20' of daylighting at crosswalks, intended improve pedestrian safety.
