I liked this article from Noelle - it gets at a lot of what I’m concerned about with these bots without introducing sexual shame and stigma. If anyone’s interested in more on this topic, last weekend, I dug into the specific niche of “transfem” erotic chatbots and their potential for harm.

Tech companies like Anima are selling access to AI “companion” chatbots designed to look like trans women. They promise partnership, but the ads use transphobic slurs and fetishize trans women. This week, I dove into these chatbots and how they harm one of our most vulnerable communities.

Working on some coverage of the #NYT, and I noticed you can’t even properly look at this paper’s MASTHEAD without the paywall 😭 Crazy work. It’s rude to the editors and journos, but it’s primarily bad for the consumer — why would you pay for news if you don’t know and trust the voices behind it?

Evan Urquhart and @billiejsweeney.bsky.social have something in spades the folks responsible for NYT's trans coverage are sorely lacking: integrity. It takes integrity to share the response of an org you've covered negatively. It means you stand by the work, and you trust readers to find truth.
