If you are also confused by the NHL's embrace of Heated Rivalry, you MUST read @thefrankiedlc.news 's take. TLDR? Don't buy into the hype. And if you do, at least hold the league accountable for years of homophobia. I still haven't watched, but will now hear takes on why I should.

You do not in fact have to give any NHL team or the league credit for anything here. They pulled back support for the community and need to take accountability before capitalizing on someone else's creation.

When you add up m/m, f/f and m/f across all platforms (kindle unlimited, ebooks, print books, AO3) *before* Heated Rivalry hit streaming, I think text hockey romance fiction had more fans and views than actual hockey did!

Men’s hockey has shown over and over again that it does not care for my love. Heated Rivalry is a lovely series, but the NHL has so much work to do if they really want to embrace the new emerging fandom.
