Okay, I found instructions for statisticians for curling, and I was right. Each shot has a maximum of four points and it is based on how successfully they execute the skip's instructions (with no judgment on whether the skip's instructions are any good or not, lol). Very interesting stuff.

I am no closer to understanding individual curling statistics, but I am now convinced that when they list shooting percentages for a player, it does not relate to (number of successes)/(number of attempts), because the number of attempts don't align with the percentages listed.
