Mamdani’s social media feed is like a procedural for jobs that never get procedurals. It’s a smart way to spotlight city services, but it’s also moving because it gives dignity to people who are often overlooked.

After three days, the most striking takeaway from talking with people here is how *angry* everyone is. Heartbroken, weary, yes, those things too. But above all else, they are furious, and not shy about it. When Minnesotans are volunteering their feelings to a stranger, you know it’s bad.

This morning, I got to walk around the South Minneapolis neighborhood where my mom grew up. Seeing *entire blocks*, both sides of the street, with handwritten NO ICE and ICE OUT MSP signs taped to the front windows was one of the most moving things I’ve experienced in some time.

Trump propagandists are pushing a vile new line of spin: His threat of genocide was *good* because it forced Iran to the negotiating table. Pete Hegseth just said it at his press conference. But this story is all nonsense. I took it on in this piece:

So Iran came to the table because Trump threatened to blow up their civilization, eh? Sorry, that spin is in tatters.

So Iran now has a significantly more stable and sustainable revenue source in tolling the Strait on top of its commodity revenues; has made its neighbours all the more cautious about engaging in future conflicts against it; and has shown the profound limitations of US hard power.

it sounds like he’s taking a proposal that was already being negotiated and claiming it’s proof that he won this standoff - but is kicking the can 2 weeks because, likely, Iran has not actually agreed to open the strait. still, this seems like this is the least bad (realistic) immediate outcome.

If you really want to game out the confrontation, taking this last point seriously is how Congress can force a president from office even if supermajorities are unobtainable. The power of the purse is the ultimate power. Not one dime for a tyrant, demand he resign or else *nothing* gets funded.

Ways to get there: - 25A (by far hardest, useless) - Straight impeachment (H. majority + 2/3 S.) - Fund nothing until he's gone (fewest votes needed, just a willing majority in either house, but takes the longest) - Congress declares him 14AS3 disqualified (simple majorities) - uhh... [redacted]
